Motto: “Every child has the spirit of creation. The rubbish of life often exterminates the spirit through plague and a soul’s own wretchedness.”
Peter Paul Rubens (28 June 1577 – 30 May 1640), Flemish artist
Once upon a time there was a girl named Andra. Born in the dreamland territory of Artsia, she had always dreamt about colorful universes, complicated sketches, and magical brushes.
“Oh, wait a second! That girl was me! So let me tell you the real story!”I do appreciate the introduction of the storyteller, but maybe you would love to hear some real-life facts about me!
I was born in Romania, and even though the landscape looks like it was collaged from a famous painting, that is not what inspired me to follow my calling of art. When I was a child, I used to help my classmates with their art homework, and later on, it was my chemistry teacher who informed us that there would be an opportunity for admission to the high school of the arts. I somehow felt that call. You know how heroes are called for adventure…this time I could hear the easel calling my name. I remember admiring the paintings hanging on the old walls of the high school. I was still young, but I knew from that moment on that I would pursue my dream of being an artist.
After I got positive results and gained admission to the school, I was waiting for a magical creature to provide me with the enchanted brushes that would make me an awesome artist. I was waiting in vain because no one came, and at my very first painting class, I made my teacher wonder if I really belonged there. She was horrified that I was not able to properly hold the paintbrush. So I decided to become her shadow. Every time my art teacher would make any suggestions for any of my classmates, I was right there listening and taking notes. The hard work eventually paid off when, one year later, she asked our class whom one of the exposed works belonged to. I replied with my voice trembling that it was mine. She was so surprised, but I could tell from her look that she was proud.
I won a national Art Olympics and in 2011 it was time for a new adventure. I chose to study in Cluj, an amazing city that constantly inspired me. I had the chance to meet amazing people and won a scholarship to study in Belgium, and I came back with an idea. I wanted to help people discover that there is an artist inside each one of us! I began teaching art to children and occasionally to adults.
Inspired by the amazing little girls at my art course, I created Vivi. She is an artist who wants to spread the joy of drawing and painting. Along with Vivi came the inspiration to be an illustrator for children’s books. I love to be surrounded by magical characters as I get to know the story of every hero and meet storytellers from all around the world.
